Abstract

The numeracy skills of 4th-grade elementary students in Madiun Regency remain low, necessitating the implementation of innovative learning models. This study aims to determine the differences in numeracy skills among 4th-grade students following the implementation of the PBL and ARIAS learning models. The study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design—specifically, a non-equivalent group pre-test/post-test design. Data were obtained from all 4th-grade students at SDN Jatisari 02, Madiun Regency (Experimental Class 1, n=24) and SDN Jiwan 01, Madiun Regency (Experimental Class 2, n=30), utilizing a total sampling technique. Data analysis involved descriptive and inferential statistics, comprising normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The hypothesis test results showed that t-calculated (2.024) > t-table (2.007); thus, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Consequently, there is a significant difference in the numeracy skills of 4th-grade students in Madiun Regency taught using the PBL and ARIAS models, with students using the ARIAS model demonstrating higher numeracy skills than those using the PBL model.
