Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services using role reversal techniques in improving the social skills of slow learner students at SMPN 10 Kota Madiun. This study used an experimental method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The subjects were 8 students of class VIII F who were identified as having low social skills based on the pre-test results. The data collection technique used a social skills questionnaire with indicators of empathy, communication, openness, helping behavior, and self-understanding. The data analysis technique used a paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS version 25. The results showed that there was a significant increase in students' social skills after being given group counseling services using role reversal techniques. A significance value of 0.000 <0.05 proves that the service is effective in helping slow learner students develop social skills, especially indicators of empathy, communication, openness, helping behavior and an emphasis on self-understanding indicators.
