Abstract

This research aims to (1) describe the application of the CORE (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) learning model assisted by comic media for class V students at SDN Gunungsari. (2) to improve short story writing skills. The problems faced by students are low difficulty in developing story ideas, poor understanding of writing good short stories, and low student motivation to learn. This research uses the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method which is carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation and reflection stages. The research results show that the CORE learning model assisted by comic media can improve short story writing skills well. Based on the pre-cycle learning results, the percentage of student completion was 23.07%, in cycle I, the percentage of student completion reached 53.84% and increased to 84.61% in cycle II. Based on research results, the application of the CORE learning model helps students to think critically and creatively, visualization in comic media helps students understand the plot and structure of stories more clearly so that students' short story writing skills improve.
