Abstract

This study aims to describe the process and extent to which the implementation of the RADEC learning model assisted by digital storybooks can improve the writing skills of fifth-grade elementary school students. The background of this research lies in the learning process that is still carried out conventionally, teacher-centered, and dominated by lecturing methods, with learning resources limited to student worksheets (LKS). As a result, students are less active and have difficulty developing their writing skills. This research was conducted using classroom action research with the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and writing skill tests. The indicator of success in this study was set at a minimum of 80% of students achieving the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). Before the intervention, the average student score was 68.67, with only 33% of students achieving mastery. After implementing the RADEC model in cycle I, the average score increased to 73.67, with 53% of students meeting the KKM. In cycle II, the average score further improved to 80.67, with 86% of students achieving mastery. This research concludes that the RADEC learning model assisted by digital storybooks can significantly improve the writing skills of fifth-grade elementary students.
