Abstract
This research aims to determine the improvement in the quality of learning through the Synthetic Analytical Structure (SAS) method with picture card media on the initial reading ability of class 2 students at SDN Girikerto 1. To determine the increase in initial reading ability using the Synthetic Analytical Structure (SAS) method with picture card media for class 2 students at SDN Girikerto 1. The research method used is classroom action research. The data sources used are primary data and secondary data. Primary data consists of the results of observations of research implementation from observers in the form of a suitability checklist, results of observations of students' initial reading activities, observations of students' learning activities, observations of the implementation of the Learning Implementation Plan, and interviews. Secondary data is in the form of existing documents in the form of photos of learning activities and data on initial reading ability test scores in cycle I and cycle II. Data collection techniques in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the reading test at the end of the lesson showed an improvement although the results were less than satisfactory, namely in the pre-cycle students had completed initial reading learning 33.33% in the first cycle 50%. There was an increase in the percentage of initial reading completion by 16.67%. The results of the initial reading test were less than satisfactory, namely cycle I 50%, cycle II 83.33%. There was an increase in the percentage of initial reading completion by 33.33%.
