Abstract
Excessive use of social media can lead to various negative impacts on users' health and mental well-being. To address this issue, this study aims to design and develop an expert system that can diagnose the level of social media addiction using the certainty factor method. This system is expected to provide ease for the community, especially teenagers, to perform an initial diagnosis of social media addiction and to raise awareness of its dangers. Data were collected through interviews with psychologists to obtain symptoms of social media addiction. The expert system was built using the PHP programming language, the Laravel framework, and a MySQL database. The system was implemented as a website to facilitate user access. The evaluation results showed that the system achieved an average System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 70.69, which falls into the "GOOD" category. This score indicates that the system is well-accepted and usable by users, providing a positive and adequate experience. This study is expected to assist in early diagnosis and increase awareness of the dangers of social media addiction, especially among teenagers.
