Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving skills are positively and significantly correlated with appropriate learning styles and high emotional intelligence. Together, these two factors increase students' understanding and effectiveness in solving math problems, with the right learning style helping them understand concepts better and high emotional intelligence helping them manage stress and stay focused. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of learning style and emotional intelligence on mathematical problem-solving ability on the subject of the two-variable linear equation system in the 2013 curriculum learning. Quantitative research with a survey method. The sample in this study is 45 students of SMP Negeri 1 Kartoharjo class VII with random sampling techniques. The research instruments used were a learning style questionnaire, an emotional intelligence questionnaire and a mathematical problem-solving ability test. Data analysis uses multiple linear analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26 for windows software. The results of the study showed that (1) There was a positive and significant influence between learning style and mathematical problem-solving ability in students with an influence of 13.8%. (2) There was a positive and significant influence between emotional intelligence and mathematical problemsolving ability in students with an influence of 19.8%. (3) There was a positive and significant influence between learning style and emotional intelligence of students on mathematical problem-solving ability with an influence of 98.3%. Further research is suggested to explore the interaction of various learning styles and levels of emotional intelligence on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities with a larger and more diverse sample.
