Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the effect of self-awareness on compliance with school rules, (2) the effect of intensity of following religious culture on compliance with school rules, and (3) the simultaneous effect of self-awareness and intensity of following religious culture on compliance with school rules among tenth-grade students at Darul Fikri Vocational High School. This study used a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. The study population was all tenth-grade students at Darul Fikri Vocational High School, with a sample of 48 students determined using a saturated sampling technique. The data collection technique used a Likert scale questionnaire to measure the variables of self-awareness, intensity of following religious culture, and compliance with school rules. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis preceded by validity, reliability, and prerequisite analysis tests. The results of the study showed that: (1) self-awareness did not have a significant effect on compliance with school rules; (2) the intensity of following religious culture had a positive and significant effect on compliance with school rules; and (3) self-awareness and intensity of following religious culture simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on compliance with school rules in class X students at Darul Fikri Vocational School. The research findings indicate that religious culture that is consistently applied in the school environment plays an important role in shaping students' disciplined character and compliance with school rules. Therefore, schools and guidance and counseling teachers are expected to continue developing character-building programs based on religious culture and to integrate self-awareness development into guidance and counseling services in order to enhance students' adherence to school rules.
