Abstract
This study aims to describe the forms of writing difficulties experienced by a fourth-grade student at SDN Kuncen, Madiun City, and to identify the factors contributing to these difficulties. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data sources consisted of a fourth-grade student experiencing writing difficulties, the fourth-grade teacher, the student's parents, and supporting documents, including the student's written work, observation results, photographs, field notes, and learning documents. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the student experienced difficulties in writing format, content development, and linguistic aspects. These difficulties included the use of capitalization and punctuation, sentence construction, idea development and object description, word choice, and coherence between sentences. Internal factors were related to a lack of carefulness and insufficient mastery of linguistic conventions, while external factors were associated with limited parental assistance at home. Meanwhile, a conducive school environment, teacher guidance, peer support, and learning facilities served as supporting factors in developing the student's writing skills. Therefore, collaboration among teachers, parents, and the school is necessary to provide continuous guidance, writing practice, and learning assistance.
