Abstract

The low level of Javanese vocabulary mastery among elementary school students has become one of the major challenges in language learning, as it affects their ability to communicate in accordance with the principles of unggah-ungguh basa (Javanese speech levels and language etiquette). This study aims to describe the implementation of the deep learning approach using VocaFlash Digital media in teaching Javanese vocabulary to second-grade students at SDN Sirapan 01, Madiun Regency. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method with a phenomenological approach. The research participants consisted of one second-grade teacher and 20 second-grade students at SDN Sirapan 01, Madiun Regency. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through technique triangulation and source triangulation. The findings indicate that the implementation of the deep learning approach supported by VocaFlash Digital media created a more meaningful, active, and enjoyable learning experience. By integrating visual, textual, and audio elements, the media helped students understand, retain, and apply Javanese vocabulary in everyday contexts. In addition to increasing students' engagement and learning motivation, the learning process also fostered the development of critical thinking, communication skills, and an understanding of politeness values in the use of the Javanese language. Therefore, the integration of the deep learning approach and VocaFlash Digital media can serve as an innovative instructional alternative to support Javanese vocabulary mastery among elementary school students.
