Abstract

This study is based on the issue of students’ low problem-solving skills in mathematics learning due to a lack of variety in instructional models. This study aims to determine whether the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) instructional model, supported by the Baamboozle media, is effective in improving the problem-solving skills of third-grade elementary school students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method, specifically the Posttest Only Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of third-grade students from SDN Ngadirejo 02 as the experimental class and SDN Jatirejo as the control class. Data were collected using an essay test. Data analysis involved tests of normality, homogeneity, balance, and hypothesis testing. The results of the statistical tests indicated a significant difference between the posttest scores of the control class and the experimental class. The average posttest score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 was obtained, so H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) supported by the Baamboozle media is effective in improving the problem-solving skills of third-grade elementary school students.
