Abstract
Character education is a crucial aspect of shaping students’ personalities and must be continuously developed through various educational activities, both curricular and extracurricular. One such activity that can instill character values is the pencak silat extracurricular program. This study aims to describe the implementation of the pencak silat extracurricular program at SDN Teguhan 02 Jiwan Madiun and to identify the character values formed through this activity. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the pencak silat extracurricular activity is motivated by the objectives of shaping students’ character, improving academic performance, and preserving the local culture of Madiun. The implementation of this activity has proven effective in fostering a sense of responsibility, independence, discipline, and self-confidence. Thus, the pencak silat extracurricular program at SDN Teguhan 02 Jiwan Madiun plays an effective role in continuously shaping students’ positive character within the elementary school environmen.
