Abstract

In today's digital era, the wide variety of perfume products available in the market is often not accompanied by accurate information, leading to discrepancies between product descriptions and their actual attributes. This issue results in customer dissatisfaction when choosing perfumes that align with their preferences. This study aims to design and develop a web-based perfume recommendation system using the Content-Based Filtering method with the Cosine Similarity algorithm. The system operates by matching perfume attributes such as scent, type (alcohol or non- alcohol), and price with user preferences. The system development method used is Extreme Programming (XP), which involves planning, design, coding, and testing phases. User preference data was collected through online surveys and used as the basis for the recommendation system modeling. The system was tested using the black-box testing method, and the results show that all functionalities work properly and can provide relevant perfume recommendations. This research is theoretically beneficial as a reference for studies on recommendation systems, and practically helps users choose suitable perfumes while enhancing the researcher’s knowledge of the Content- Based Filtering method in system development.
