Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain (1) the use of the jigsaw cooperative learning model can improve the process of learning speaking skills of fifth-grade students of SDN 2 Badegan, Badegan District, Ponorogo Regency, and (2) the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students of SDN 2 Badegan, Badegan District, Ponorogo Regency in learning speaking using the jigsaw cooperative learning model. The method in this study uses a qualitative method with the type of classroom action research. The results of this study are (1) the use of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model can improve the process of learning speaking skills of fifth-grade students of SDN 2 Badegan, Badegan District, Ponorogo Regency. This speaking skills learning begins with the delivery of learning materials by the teacher to students. Students are then formed into 6 original groups with 5 students in each group. Each student in the original group is given different materials to study. Students then gather with other students who have received the same material to form expert groups and discuss the material. Students return to their original groups and take turns delivering the material they have learned to their friends in their original groups to practice their speaking skills, and (2) there is an increase in student learning outcomes as seen from an increase in the average score of 64.7 in the pre-action to 66.4 in cycle I and if we look at the KKM achievement, this value has not yet reached the research success criteria so it continues to cycle II. The students' average score increased from 66.4 in cycle I to 76 in cycle II. The observation results also showed changes from cycle I to cycle II, this was proven by the increase in students who were active in learning activities.
