Abstract

The elderly represent a vulnerable demographic prone to psychological issues, particularly loneliness, which can negatively impact their quality of life. This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity and family social support on the level of loneliness among the elderly in Blembem Village, Jambon District, Ponorogo Regency. Religiosity and family support are hypothesized to serve as protective factors that can reduce feelings of psychological isolation among the elderly in rural areas. This research employs a quantitative approach with an Ex Post Facto design to measure phenomena that have occurred naturally without experimental manipulation. The population consists of the elderly in Blembem Village, with a sample of 92 respondents selected using a random sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using Likert scale questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability, followed by data analysis using multiple linear regression techniques. The results indicate that, both partially and simultaneously, religiosity and family social support do not have a significant influence on the level of loneliness among the elderly, with a simultaneous significance value of 0.710 (> 0.05). These findings suggest that although the elderly possess adequate levels of religiosity and family support, these factors are not the primary determinants of loneliness fluctuations in this subject group, suggesting that other external factors outside of this model may be more dominant.
