Abstract

Character education is very important and plays a role in forming the nation's next generation with quality, noble morals ready to face challenges in the future. SDN 3 Ngebel Ponorogo is one of the schools that implements character education through habituation. The focus of this research is to describe the implementation of character education through habituation at SDN 3 Ngebel Ponorogo and the challenges faced in implementing character education through habituation at SDN 3 Ngebel Ponorogo. To achieve the objectives of this study, using qualitative descriptive research with data collection techniques including interviews, observations and documentation. The data obtained is then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation and conclusions drawn. The results of this research illustrate that the implementation of character education through habituation at SDN 3 Ngebel Ponorogo is carried out with 1) routine habituation which includes praying and reading short letters, dhuha prayers, congregational dhuhur prayers, red and white flag ceremonies, gymnastics great Indonesian children, class pickets and Friday charity 2) spontaneous habituation includes saying greetings and shaking hands, throwing rubbish in its place 3) programmed habits include activities celebrating Islamic holidays (Ramadan huts, Qur'anickhotmils), cooking and food bazaars, clean Fridays, extracurricular jathil dances and scouts 4) exemplary habits including dressing neatly, speaking Javanese and being polite. The character values that are highlighted in implementing character education through habituation at SDN 3 Ngebel Ponorogo are religious, disciplined, independent values, love of one's homeland and caring for the environment. Challenges faced in implementing mountainous geographical location character education, lack of ablution facilities that are not in the same location as prayer places and the rapid development of gadget technology and other digital media.
