Abstract

Learning outcomes are the main indicator of the success of the learning process in schools. Based on observations at SDN Ngadirejo 02, problems were found in science learning, namely the dominance of the lecture method and the minimal use of learning media, which impacted low student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of Scratch media in the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a true experimental method and a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was all 34 fifth-grade students of SDN Ngadirejo 02, divided into 17 experimental class students and 17 control class students using saturated sampling techniques. The research instrument was a science learning outcome test. Data analysis was carried out through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests (Independent Sample T-Test) to determine the effectiveness of the treatment. The results of the pre-test normality test for the experimental class obtained a Sig. value of 0.158 > 0.05 and the control class 0.454 > 0.05, while the post-test for the experimental class was 0.556 > 0.05 and the control class 0.288 > 0.05, so the data were normally distributed. The results of the homogeneity test showed a Sig. value of 0.644 > 0.05, so the data were homogeneous. The results of the t-test (Independent Sample T-Test) on the post-test obtained t_count 4.108 > t_table 1.740 with Sig. 0.000 < 0.05 which means there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students in the experimental class and the control class. The average post-test results of the experimental class were 87.35 and the control class were 77.35. Thus, the use of Scratch media in the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model is effective in improving the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in SDN Ngadirejo 02.
