Abstract

Cognitive ability in elementary school students is an important aspect in intellectual development that influences the way they think, learn, solve problems and interact with information. In the third grade of science, the indicators include remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing and many students have not mastered it. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the STAD learning model assisted by Assemblr Education media on the cognitive abilities of third grade students in science. This study uses quantitative research using experimental methods. The design form used in this study is true experimental with the type of Posttest-Only Control Group Design. In this study, the research subjects were divided into two groups, namely the control class and the experimental class. From the two classes, class III A was determined as the control class and class III B as the experimental class. The technique used in collecting data in this study used test instruments and documentation. The results of this study were the posttest of the control class = 71.04 and the average posttest score of the experimental class = 83.65. The hypothesis test showed that the value of the hypothesis test results showed a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 <0.05, which indicated a significant difference between the two classes. This shows a significant difference in cognitive ability test results, indicating the effectiveness of the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) learning model as an effective learning innovation to ensure enjoyable learning while still enabling students to understand the material.
