Abstract
Kiswati. 2026. Efforts to Improve Fine Motor Skills Through Tap-Tap Technique Finger Painting Activities in 4-Year-Old Children at TK IT Raden Syahid XI Tawun. Undergraduate Thesis. Early Childhood Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors: (I) Dr. Rischa Pramudia Trisnani, M.Pd., (II) Sofia Nur Afifah, M.Pd. Fine motor skills involve the coordination of small muscles, particularly eye-hand coordination, which is essential to support various early childhood activities. Based on initial observations at TK IT Raden Syahid XI Tawun, the fine motor skills of 4-year-old children were not yet optimally developed. The children still faced difficulties coordinating eye and hand movements, controlling finger movements, and completing tasks that required precision. One effort to improve children's fine motor skills is through finger painting activities using the tap-tap technique. This study aims to enhance children's fine motor skills through tap-tap technique finger painting activities, assessed through indicators of eye-hand coordination and finger movement control during activities. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 8 four-year-old children at TK IT Raden Syahid XI Tawun during the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observation and documentation. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive analysis by comparing the results of the pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II based on the percentage of achievement in fine motor development indicators. The results showed that finger painting activities using the tap-tap technique successfully improved the children's fine motor skills. This is demonstrated by the increase in the average fine motor skill score from 34.3% in the pre-cycle (Not Yet Developed category) to 50% in Cycle I (Starting to Develop category), and further increasing to 75% in Cycle II (Developing as Expected category). The improvement was observed in the children's ability to coordinate eye and hand movements, control finger movements according to patterns, and independently complete finger painting activities. In conclusion, finger painting using the tap-tap technique is effective as a learning strategy to enhance fine motor skills in 4-year-old children. Keywords: fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, finger painting, tap-tap technique.
