Abstract

The ability to write procedure texts is a crucial language skill for elementary school students to master. However, this ability remains low because the learning process tends to be teacher-centered and relies on unengaging instructional media. This study aims to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model assisted by e-flipbook media on the procedure text writing skills of Grade V elementary school students in Indonesian language lessons. The study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design—specifically, the non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 38 students: 20 in the experimental class at SDN Sirapan 01 and 18 in the control class at SDN Sirapan 02. Data collection was conducted through procedure text writing tests, comprising both pre-tests and post-tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and the Independent Sample t-test for hypothesis testing. The results show that the average post-test score for the experimental class was 86.94, while the control class scored 81.94. Hypothesis testing results indicate a calculated t-value of 2.109, which is higher than the t-table value of 2.028, with a significance level of 0.042 (<0.05). These findings demonstrate that the Discovery Learning model assisted by e-flipbook media has a significant effect on improving the procedure text writing skills of Grade V elementary school students. This learning model encourages students to be more active and critical, while also helping them construct procedure texts in a coherent, logical, and systematic manner.
