Abstract
The procedural text writing skills of fourth-grade students are still low and tend to be monotonous, particularly in organizing steps coherently and using appropriate language. This condition was identified through preliminary observations. The Think Pair Share method was selected because it encourages students to think independently, engage in discussion, and confidently express ideas, while Canva for Education was chosen for its potential to enhance students’ motivation and creativity. Therefore, this study is relevant to addressing writing instruction problems in the classroom and aligns with the Merdeka Curriculum. The objectives of this study are: (1) to develop procedural text writing skills through the implementation of the Think Pair Share method and the use of Canva for Education among fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Selorejo, Bagor District, Nganjuk Regency; and (2) to implement the Think Pair Share method and Canva for Education in procedural text writing instruction for fourth-grade students. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The data sources consisted of teachers and fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, writing tests (pretest and posttest), and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by simple quantitative data to strengthen the research findings. The results indicate that the implementation of the Think Pair Share method and Canva for Education was able to develop students’ procedural text writing skills. This development was evident in students’ ability to organize procedural text structures completely and coherently, use clearer and simpler language, and present their writing in a neater and more creative manner. The implementation of the Think Pair Share method and the use of Canva for Education can be carried out systematically and effectively in procedural text writing instruction. The stages of independent thinking (think), paired discussion (pair), and sharing results (share) encourage students to be more active, confident, and responsible for their learning outcomes. Canva for Education serves as a supporting medium that helps students express ideas and organize the steps of procedural texts.
