Abstract

The Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology to Improve Learning Motivation and Learning Outcomes in Social Studies for Grade 8D Students at SMP Negeri 12 Madiun, Thesis. Madiun: Master’s Program in Social Science Education, Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors: (I) Prof. Dr. Drs. Muhammad Hanif, MM., M.Pd., (II) Dr. Nurhadji Nugraha, S.Pd., M.M. Keywords: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Learning Motivation, Learning Outcomes, Social Studies This research is a classroom action research that aims to find out whether the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can increase learning motivation as well as learning outcomes in social studies of grade 8 D students of SMP Negeri 12 Madiun. The subject of this research is grade 8 D students of SMP Negeri 12 Madiun for the academic year of 2024/2025, that consist of 29 students. In the research implementation, it is divided into 2 cycles. Each cycle goes through four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Cycle I and cycle II were held for 3 meetings, respectively. Two meetings for learning activities and a third meeting for the final test of the cycle. Taking data on student learning motivation through learning motivation questionnaires and social studies learning outcome data through tests. The data was analyzed quantitatively. The learning motivation and learning outcomes of social studies students in grade 8 D increased after learning using AI for 2 cycles with the following results: (1) Student learning motivation in the early/pre-cycle condition was in the low category with an average score of 74.86 out of an ideal score of 192. The social studies learning outcomes of students in the initial/preliminary condition, are in the poor category with the average score achieved by students is 68.79. The highest score is 90, the lowest is 40, the median is 70, and the mode is 70. Students who were able to achieve KKTP were 11 students (37.93%). Classically, students do not achieve KKTP in social studies learning; (2) Students' learning motivation in the first cycle is in the medium category with an average score achieved of 96.62 out of an ideal score of 192. The social studies learning outcomes of students in the first cycle were in the category of sufficient with the average score achieved by students was 74.14. The highest score is 95, the lowest is 50, the median is 75, and the mode is 75. Students who achieved KKTP were 20 students (68.97%). Classically, students do not achieve KKTP in social studies learning; (3) Student learning motivation in cycle II is in the high category with an average score achieved of 117.55 out of an ideal score of 192. Student learning outcomes in cycle II were in the good category, with an average score of 83.10. The highest score is 95, the lowest is 70, the median is 85, and the mode is 85. There were 25 students (86.21%) who managed to achieve KKTP. Classically, students achieve KKTP in social studies learning. Based on the results of the analysis above, it can be concluded that the use of AI technology can increase learning motivation and learning outcomes in social studies subjects for grade 8 D students of SMP Negeri 12 Madiun.
