Abstract
Key Terms: Math Anxiety, School Environment, Mathematics Learning Outcomes This study discusses the low mathematics learning outcomes of students, which are suspected to be influenced by the level of math anxiety and an unsupportive school environment. The purpose of the research is to determine the relationship between math anxiety and the school environment on students’ mathematics learning outcomes. This is a quantitative correlational study, with a sample of 114 students out of a population of 160 eighth-grade students, selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and tests, and analyzed using multiple regression analysis with the help of SPSS IBM 26. The results of the study show that: 1) There is no significant effect of math anxiety on students’ mathematics learning outcomes (sig. 0.792 > 0.05); 2) There is no significant effect of the school environment on students’ mathematics learning outcomes (sig. 0.126 > 0.05); 3) Simultaneously, there is no significant effect of math anxiety and the school environment on students’ mathematics learning outcomes (sig. 0.181 > 0.05). The coefficient of determination shows that math anxiety and school environment contribute 1.3% to the students’ mathematics learning outcomes. This means that only 1.3% of the learning outcomes can be explained by math anxiety and the school environment, while the remaining 98.7% is influenced by other factors outside the variables studied.
