Abstract
Language acquisition in early childhood is something that can steal attention about how children produce simple and clear language. Language acquisition in childhood is the first step in the process of mastering the language used around them naturally and quickly. This process includes understanding sentence structure, vocabulary development, and the ability to use words and phrases in appropriate contexts. The aim of this research is to describe and explain the acquisition of word classes (lexicon) and sentence structures in early childhood. This research examines the realm of psycholinguistics, because the language process in children cannot be separated from human psychology. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. Data collection uses observation, interview and documentation techniques. The subjects in this study were children aged 4 years. Data analysis uses an interactive data analysis model which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the lexicon acquisition of children aged 4 years is able to master almost all classes of Indonesian words. Starting from the word classes nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, numeralia, prepositions and conjunctions. The word class that is most mastered by 4 year old children is the noun word class, followed by the verb, numeralia, adjective and adverb, pronoun, as well as preposition and conjunction word classes. Based on the acquisition of sentence structure, 4 year old children are able to pronounce single sentences, compound sentences, and comment topic sentence. Most of the sentences composed are in the form of single sentences, and a small part are in the form of equivalent compound sentences and topic comment sentences. If we look at the completeness of the elements, children aged 4 years use more major sentences than minor sentences. At the age of 4 years children are able to say major sentences which contain core elements, namely subject and predicate, which are then expanded by adding other elements such as objects, descriptions, and complement.
