Giska Lutfia Desi, 2024. Efforts to Improve Descriptive Writing Skills of Class II Students of SDN 01 Purworejo Through Problem-Based Learning. Thesis. Elementary School Teacher Study Program, FKIP, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors (I) Dr. Endang Sri Maruti, M.Pd. ,(II) Dr. Cerianing Putri Pratiwi, M.Pd. The low writing skills of class II students of SDN 01 Purworejo are a problem in this study. This study aims to see the improvement of descriptive writing skills through problem-based learning in class II students of SDN 01 Purworejo. The research method in this study uses the classroom action research (CAR) method. The data collection techniques used are observation, tests, and questionnaires. The data sources used in this study were learning activities carried out in class II of SDN 01 Purworejo. The analysis technique begins with calculating the initial test score (pre-test), then analyzing the activity through observation, then analyzing the results of writing students' descriptive essays. The results of the study were obtained after the application of problem-based learning could improve the skills of writing descriptive essays in class II students of SDN 01 Purworejo. This is indicated by the average pre-test score of 69.5, then the average in the cycle I test of 73, then the average test in cycle II was 79. So it can be concluded that problem-based learning can improve the skills of writing descriptive essays in class II students of SDN 01 Purworejo.
