Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the improvement in the ability to write poetry using the Outdoor Learning Method and the Word Map Method for class IV students at SDN 3 Ngasinan, Jetis District, Ponorogo Regency. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The implementation of PTK is 2 cycles and each action consists of planning, action implementation, observation and reflection. In this classroom action research, 2 data collection techniques were used, namely observation to obtain data about teacher and student activities during the learning process using observation sheet instruments and tests to obtain data on the value of the ability to write poetry. The results of this research were the ability to write poetry in cycle 1, the average student poetry writing score was 68. The number of students who completed it was 4 students with a completion percentage of 44%. After implementing cycle 2, the results showed an increase in the average score of 80. The number of students who completed was 9 students with a completion percentage of 100%. The increase that occurred from cycle 1 to cycle 2 was 56%. It can be concluded that the application of the outdoor learning method and the word pair map method can improve the poetry writing ability of class IV students at SDN 3 Ngasinan.
