Abstract
The learning process at SDN 04 Manisrejo does not utilize the right learning model. Students are often bored because teachers deliver material only using the lecture method. This condition causes students' reading abilities to be less than optimal. The aim of the research was to determine the Discovery Learning model assisted by picture card media on the reading ability of grade I elementary school students. The locations used were SDN 04 Manisrejo and SDN 01 Demangan Madiun City. The research will be carried out from February to July 2024. The design used is True Experimental Design. The method used is the experimental method. The population is SDN 04 Manisrejo, SDN 01 Demangan, and SDN 01 Josenan. The samples taken were class I students of SDN 04 Manisrejo and SDN 01 Demangan with a total of 50 students. Data collection techniques were tests and documentation. Based on the results of the data research, it was concluded that there was an influence between the use of the Discovery Learning model assisted by picture card media compared to the lecture method on the reading ability of class I students. The research data was obtained from giving a posttest in the form of reading and using t-test analysis to obtain a t-count value (7.169238845) ttable (2.010634758) if compared to 7.169238845 > 2.010634758 then it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, there is an influence of the Discovery Learning model assisted by picture card media on the reading ability of grade I elementary school students.
