Abstract
Reading is a basic skill that every student must have. This research aims to determine the implementation of improving initial reading skills by implementing wordwall media. This type of research uses Classroom Action Research. The subjects in this research were class I students at SDN 03 Taman Kota Madiun, totaling 10 students. Data collection techniques in Classroom Action Research are as follows: observation, test, documentation. The procedure for implementing Classroom Action Research is carried out in the form of (cycles), each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research results show that there is an increase from cycle I and cycle II using wordwall media. It can be proven that in the research cycle I the percentage of student completion was 60% or 6 students achieved a completion score with an average of 62% but had not yet reached the KKM standard score, so reflection and improvements in cycle I so that the implementation of cycle II is better and achieves the completeness that has been determined. In the second cycle of research there was a very good increase, namely the percentage of completeness score for students was 90% or 9 students completed with an average of 90%, thus the increase in initial reading among students had increased and had reached the KKM value, so it can be concluded that the application of wordwall media could improve beginning reading in grade I elementary school students.
