Abstract
This study aims to analyze the understanding of arithmetic concepts of class X students based on Bruner's theory from the perspective of students' learning interests. This research was conducted at SMKN 2 Jiwan by involving 26 students as research subjects. Data was collected through questionnaires about learning interests, arithmetic concept comprehension tests, and interviews. The results of the study show that students' understanding of arithmetic concepts can be improved by carrying out learning based on Bruner's theory and using concept maps. Based on the results of subject 1 (BO) scored 94, able to determine the adequacy of the requirements in the question so that they are able to answer the given question, be able to understand the problem, explain in detail the steps that will be used to solve the problem and also be able to communicate accurately. Subject 2 (KI) scored 69, quite able to understand and adequately understand the requirements in the question, but subject 2 was not thorough so that there were some things that were not recorded, the subject was also explained and able to communicate accurately like subject 1. Based on subject 3 (AA), the results were also able to answer the questions given, be able to understand the problem, explain the steps used to solve the problem and also be able to communicate accurately but had a score of 56.
