Abstract

This research was conducted to test the influence of the Science, Technology, and Society (STS) learning model on Higher Order Thinking Skills in science learning in class IV. Natural and Social Sciences are subjects applied at elementary school level in accordance with the Independent Curriculum. In science lessons there is a discussion about science. Science learning is very important to understand and apply because science always coexists with human life. In science learning, there are indicators that analyze various transformations in everyday life and conclude the process of changing the form of motion energy into sound in everyday life. In applying the STS model, the material used in conducting research is science learning material with examples of questions applied, namely questions in social life or everyday life. It is hoped that questions with the daily life type can train students in solving problems starting from the environment in which they live. The use of this question has been adapted to high-level thinking standards C4, C5 and C6. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research type that uses a pre-test and post-test research design. The sampling technique uses the Probability Sampling technique. The sample in this study were 17 in class IV students at SDN 02 Nambangan Kidul, Madiun City. Data collection techniques use tests and documentation. The results of the data analysis were obtained based on the results of hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon test with a p-value of 0.001 and the H0 test decision was rejected. This proves that the Science, Technology, Society learning model has a significant influence on students' high-level thinking skills in Class IV Science subjects.
