Abstract

ABSTRACT Salsabila Qurotu Aini. 2024. Implementation of Cognitive Approach in Learning IPAS SDN 01 Demangan. Thesis. Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, FKIP, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisor (I) Dian Nur Antika Eky H., M.Pd., (II) Dr. Sri Budyartati, S.S., M.Pd. In this study using a cognitive approach to determine the implementation of IPAS learning at SDN 01 Demangan, especially in class IV IPAS learning. The cognitive approach emphasizes that behavior is a mental process in which individuals (organisms) are active in capturing, assessing, comparing, and responding to stimuli before taking action. After receiving a stimulus, the individual performs a mental process before reacting to the next stimulus. In addition, the cognitive approach emphasizes what happens inside a person's mind: memory, understanding language, solving problems, explaining different experiences, acquiring moral standards, and forming beliefs. The cognitive approach to education recognizes that factual and conceptual knowledge are essential for learning. Students are expected to not only remember information and facts but also understand the ideas behind them. For example, students should not only memorize important dates and events in history lessons but should also understand the context, causality and consequences of these events. In the results of the above research, it can be stated that the cognitive approach for elementary school students is very good.
