Abstract

This research aims to improve students' paragraph writing skills through the application of flashcard media. The subjects of this research were 17 grade 4 students at SDN Patihan, consisting of 9 male students and 8 female students. This research used the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method, which was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of 3 stages, namely planning, implementation and results. The data collection techniques used in this research are documentation, observation and tests. This research instrument is in the form of a grid or documentation check for teaching modules, learning process observation sheets, and test questions. The data analysis technique used is qualitative and quantitative data described in descriptive form. The results of the research show that in the learning planning in cycles I and II, the teaching modules developed both have 19 components with the presence of the description points mentioned on the grid sheet or checking the teaching module documentation with the conclusion that the teaching module is suitable for use. Furthermore, in the implementation of learning, it was discovered that in cycle I the learning process that occurred had all been carried out but was still not optimal, whereas in cycle II the learning process that occurred had all been carried out and was optimal. Apart from that, the research results also show that the application of flashcard media to the paragraph writing skills of grade 4 students at SDN Patihan in learning Indonesian in each cycle has increased. The average test score for students' paragraph writing skills in cycle I was 76 with a completion percentage of 64.70%, and the average test score in cycle II was 87 with a completion percentage of 82.35%. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the application of flashcard media can improve the paragraph writing skills of grade 4 students at SDN Patihan.
