Abstract

Mind mapping is one of the learning techniques that are often applied by teachers in the learning process, one of which is in science and natural sciences learning. Science and natural sciences learning is one of the learning methods found in Elementary Schools. In Ngawi District, the application of mind mapping in science and natural sciences learning in Elementary Schools is still unknown in its effectiveness. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of mind mapping in science and natural sciences learning for high-grade Elementary School students throughout Ngawi District. This study uses a survey research method with a quantitative approach. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. The population in this study was 129 respondents who were high-grade Elementary School teachers (grades 4, 5, 6) throughout Ngawi District. The sampling technique was carried out using the proportional stratified random sampling technique. The determination of the number of samples was carried out with the help of the Slovin formula and obtained a sample of 60 people. The data obtained were then processed and classified using the Likert measurement scale. The data analysis technique was carried out by testing the validity and reliability of the research instrument and testing the hypothesis. From the results of the research and analysis conducted, 91% of respondents agreed that mind mapping is effective when applied to elementary school students' science learning, so it can be concluded that mind mapping has proven to be effective when applied to high-grade elementary school students' science learning throughout Ngawi District.
