Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of the Think Talk Write model assisted by images of natural events can improve the poetry writing skills of fifth-grade students of SDN 1 Pelem, Bungkal District, Ponorogo Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students of SDN 1 Pelem, Bungkal District, Ponorogo Regency in learning to write poetry using the Think Talk Write model assisted by images of natural events. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the use of the Think Talk Write learning model assisted by images of natural events in learning to write poetry can improve the poetry writing skills of fifth-grade students of SDN 1 Pelem, Bungkal District, Ponorogo Regency. Improvements in the process are seen in the aspects of student attention and enthusiasm in the lesson, the aspect of student activity in asking and answering questions, and the aspect of student activity in doing assignments. This improvement occurs gradually starting from pre-action, cycle I, to cycle II, and (2) student learning outcomes experienced an increase. In the pre-action, the average student score was 67.85 with only 3 students experiencing completeness. In cycle I there was an average score of 76 with 18 students having completed, and in cycle II there was an average score of 80.57 with 28 students having a complete score above 75. This increase in score shows that the implementation of actions from cycles I and Cycle II is able to improve students' ability to write poetry
