Abstract

This study looks at using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with the Monopoli Edukasi Proklamasi board game to improve students' understanding of history at SMK Cendekia Madiun. The research was done because students had a low level of history knowledge, shown by an average daily test score of 74.77 before this new learning method was introduced. The study used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design called the One Group Pretest-Posttest, involving 13 students from class XI DKV at SMK Cendekia Madiun. Data were collected through written tests before and after the learning to measure students' history understanding. The Monopoli Edukasi board game was created as an interactive tool that includes PBL steps, encouraging active, cooperative, and meaningful learning through problem-solving activities based on Indonesia's Proclamation of Independence. The results show a big improvement in students' history understanding. The average pretest score of 59.62 increased to 89.62 in the posttest, a gain of 30 points. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test gave a value of 0.001, which is less than 0.05. This means the original assumption was rejected and the alternative accepted, proving that using PBL with Monopoli Edukasi Proklamasi has a strong effect on students' history understanding. The study concludes that combining the PBL model with educational board games is effective in improving history understanding and encouraging active student participation in learning.
