ABSTRACT Imawati. 2026. Improving Speech Skills and Self-Confidence through the Modeling Technique for Grade VI-B Students of SD Negeri Losari, Jombang. Theses. Indonesian Master of Language and Literature Education Study Program, Post Graduate Program, Universitas PGRI Madiun, Advisor I) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hanif, M.M., M.Pd.; (II) Dr. Kodrat Eko Putro Setiawan,M.Pd. This study was motivated by the low level of speech skills and self-confidence among Grade VI-B students of SD Negeri Losari, Ploso District, Jombang Regency. The study aimed to describe the implementation of the modeling technique in speech learning and to improve students' speech skills and self-confidence. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles, with each cycle including planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 24 Grade VI-B students. Data were collected through observation, speech performance assessment, self-confidence questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the modeling technique effectively improved students' speech skills and self-confidence. The mastery of speech skills increased from 29.17% in Cycle I to 83.33% in Cycle II. Improvements were observed in performance, language use, and speech content. In addition, students' self-confidence also increased, as indicated by the questionnaire results at the end of the study, with 33.33% of students categorized as having very high self-confidence, 62.50% high, and 4.17% moderate. It can therefore be concluded that the modeling technique is effective in improving the speech skills and self-confidence of Grade VI-B students at SD Negeri Losari, Ploso District, Jombang Regency.
