Abstract

This study aims to describe the utilization of Chromebook media, analyze its role in developing distribution skills, and identify the obstacles faced in Social Studies learning on distribution materials in grade VII of SMP Negeri 4 Madiun. The research employed a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including direct observation, in-depth interviews with Social Studies teachers, students, and the school principal, as well as analysis of supporting learning documents. Data analysis was conducted using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through source, technique, and researcher triangulation. The findings reveal that Chromebooks are systematically utilized in three learning stages: planning (preparing digital materials via Google Classroom), implementation (presenting interactive videos and providing real-time assignments), and evaluation. The role of Chromebooks is proven significant in enhancing students' understanding of distribution concepts through broad access to visual information, developing analytical skills through case study reviews, and strengthening communication and collaboration skills through digital presentations and project-based group work. However, the utilization of Chromebooks faces various obstacles, including unstable internet connectivity, varying levels of digital literacy among students, limited teacher supervision, and inefficient time management. This study concludes that the utilization of Chromebooks positively contributes to developing distribution skills and creates more interactive and student-centered learning dynamics, but its success heavily depends on infrastructure readiness, teacher competence, and adaptive learning strategies to overcome emerging technical and pedagogical obstacles.
