Abstract

This study was motivated by students' low ability to compose exposition texts systematically, particularly in developing ideas, organizing the text structure, and applying appropriate language features. The objective of this study was to describe the implementation of exposition text writing instruction using the Think Pair Share (TPS) method for students of Class VIII-A at SMP Negeri 1 Siman Ponorogo, covering the planning, implementation, and assessment stages of the learning process. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research data consisted of the exposition text writing learning process using the TPS method, which were collected through observation and documentation. The data sources included the teacher, students, learning activities, and instructional documents. The findings revealed that the implementation of exposition text writing instruction using the TPS method was carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, and assessment. The instructional planning, as outlined in the teaching module, was systematically designed. The implementation of the learning process was consistent with the principles of cooperative learning. The assessment process enabled the teacher to monitor and evaluate students' progress in developing their writing skills and understanding of exposition texts.
