A Critical Discourse Analysis Using Teun A. van Dijk’s Model on the Lyrics of the Song Monolog by Pamungkas and Its Relevance to Poetry Instruction in Senior High School. Undergraduate Thesis. Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Dr. Panji Kuncoro Hadi, S.S., M.Pd., (II) Devi Cintia Kasimbara, S.Pd., M.A.\ This study is motivated by the fact that song lyrics serve not only as a form of entertainment but also embody meanings, social experiences, and messages that can be examined through Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The study aims to describe the text structure, social cognition, and social context of the lyrics to the song "Monolog" by Pamungkas, as well as their relevance as alternative teaching material for poetry in high school. A qualitative, descriptive research approach was employed. Data sources consisted of the lyrics to Monolog by Pamungkas and an interview with the songwriter. Data were collected using listening, note-taking, and documentation techniques, then analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation. The results indicate that the macro-structure addresses the theme of a relationship experiencing a decline in communication; the superstructure comprises an opening, body, and closing that establish an emotional arc; and the micro-structure reveals the use of semantic, syntactic, stylistic, and rhetorical elements that construct a cohesive meaning. Social cognition analysis shows that the lyrics are influenced by the songwriter's schemas and memory, while the social context reflects shifting meanings of commitment, declining communication quality, and the experience of longing in modern society. These findings are relevant for use as alternative poetry teaching material in high school Indonesian language classes, in accordance with the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum).
