Abstract

IPAS instruction in the fourth grade at SDN 2 Tumpuk still requires instructional media capable of increasing student engagement in the learning process. The limited use of such media results in students being less active in independently discovering knowledge. Therefore, there is a need for instructional media that is engaging, interactive, and suited to the characteristics of elementary school students. This study aims to develop and assess the feasibility of an Inquiry-Based Interactive Smart Box as a teaching aid for IPAS lessons on the topic of Indonesia’s cultural diversity in Grade 4 at SDN 2 Tumpuk. This study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The research subjects comprised 16 Grade 4 students at SDN 2 Tumpuk. The data collection techniques used included observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the Inquiry-Based Interactive Smart Box media received a validation percentage of 80.5% from media experts, 90.2% from content experts, and 95% from language experts, all categorized as “highly valid.” User response results showed a percentage of 98.4% from teachers and 95.25% from students, both categorized as “highly valid.” Based on these results, the Inquiry-Based Interactive Smart Box was deemed highly suitable for use as a learning medium for IPAS on the topic of Indonesia’s cultural diversity.
