Abstract

Mathematical ability plays an important role in improving students' understanding of mathematical concepts. However, observations at SDN 02 Mojorejo revealed that the mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students were still low due to teacher-centered instruction, the dominant use of the lecture method, and the limited variety of learning media. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) cooperative learning model assisted by BILUPER media on students' mathematical ability in terms of their learning interest. This research employed a quantitative approach using a true experimental design with a posttest-only control design. Data were collected through a posttest to measure students' mathematical ability and a learning interest questionnaire. The data were analyzed using a Two-Way Analysis of Variance (Two-Way ANOVA). The results showed that the STAD cooperative learning model assisted by BILUPER media had a significant effect on students' mathematical ability Sig. 0.000. Learning interest also had a significant effect Sig. 0.000, while the interaction between the learning model and learning interest was not significant Sig. = 0.052. Therefore, the STAD cooperative learning model assisted by BILUPER media effectively improves students' mathematical ability regardless of the interaction with their learning interest.
