Abstract
This research is motivated by the importance of developing the religious character of elementary school students through religious activities at school. This study aims to describe the implementation of the extracurricular activity of Reading and Writing the Qur'an (BTQ) in developing the religious character of fifth-grade students at SDN 04 Klegen, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors of its implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research data sources consist of primary data obtained from the BTQ coordinator teacher and the BTQ mentor teacher, as well as secondary data in the form of supporting documents for BTQ activities. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data validity used source triangulation and technical triangulation, while data analysis used the interactive analysis technique of the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the BTQ extracurricular activity was carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. BTQ activities play a role in shaping students' religious character, which is demonstrated through discipline in worship, responsibility, politeness to teachers, and an attitude of mutual respect and help among friends. Supporting factors include support from the principal, teachers, and parents, student enthusiasm, and adequate facilities and infrastructure. Inhibiting factors include the limited number of supervising teachers, differences in students' Quran reading abilities and religious character, and a lack of focus on the part of some students during the activity. Thus, the BTQ extracurricular activity positively contributes to the development of the religious character of fifth-grade students at SDN 04 Klegen.
