Abstract

This research is based on the low speaking skills of students in upper elementary school grades. This is due to differences in children's basic motor skills, differences in self-confidence levels, and the presence of environmental factors that greatly influence this. Another underlying factor is the lack of innovative teaching practices of teachers, resulting in less ability to improve students' speaking skills. The researcher will conduct research on the teaching activities of teachers and students in speaking learning activities in upper elementary schools, so that researchers will identify what obstacles and solutions can be provided to improve the quality of learning, especially improving students' speaking skills. Thus, this research was conducted with the aim of improving students' speaking skills through the application of the Canva for Education Integrated Show and Tell Method to Improve Students' Speaking Skills. This study used a classroom action research method. The subjects of this study were 18 fifth-grade students of Kacangan Elementary School, Loceret District, Nganjuk Regency. The instruments used were observation sheets and test sheets, while data collection techniques used observation and test techniques. This research was conducted for two cycles. The teacher activity data obtained in cycle I was 72.5% and cycle II was 87.5%. Student activity in cycle I was 70.83% and in cycle II was 83.33%. Meanwhile, the results of the student speaking skills test in cycle I were 66.6% and in cycle II were 88.8%. From these data, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Show and Tell method integrated with Canva for Education can improve students' speaking skills and can be used as an alternative learning innovation in Indonesian language lessons. This is evident in each research cycle, which consistently obtained improved results.
