Keywords: writing, rhymes, contextual teaching and learning and word cards This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of the contextual teaching and learning method assisted by word card media can improve writing skills in grade V students of SDN Panjunan 2, Kalitidu District, Bojonegoro Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of grade V students of SDN Panjunan 2, Kalitidu District, Bojonegoro Regency in learning to write pantun using the contextual teaching and learning method assisted by word card media. This study is a classroom action research using two cycles. The results of this study are (1) the application of the contextual teaching and learning method with word card media was carried out well, this is known from the observation score of the activities carried out by teachers and students from cycle I to cycle II increased. For teacher activity in cycle I, the final value obtained was 75 (moderate) and increased in cycle II to 90 (high) and student activity in cycle I, the final value obtained was 70 (moderate) and increased in cycle II, namely 87.5 (high), and (2) learning outcomes in learning to write pantun through the contextual teaching and learning approach with word card media in grade V students of SDN Panjunan 2, Kalitidu District, Bojonegoro Regency increased after implementing the contextual teaching and learning approach with word card media, which was marked by the percentage of learning completion in each cycle. The percentage of student completion scores in cycle I was 50% (low) and increased significantly to 79.17% (very high) in cycle II. The average class score in cycle I was 71.67 (moderate) and increased to 76.25 (high) in cycle II.
