Keywords: discovery learning, discussion method, learning outcomes, Indonesian language, classroom action research. Indonesian language learning in elementary schools plays a strategic role in developing students’ literacy skills and language competence. However, classroom realities indicate that the Indonesian language learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN 4 Jatigreges, Pace District, Nganjuk Regency, were still relatively low and had not met the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). This condition was caused by teacher-centered learning practices, the dominance of lecture-based methods, and limited student involvement during the learning process. Therefore, instructional improvement through innovative and student-centered learning models is required.This study aims to describe the implementation and procedures of the discovery learning model using the discussion method to improve Indonesian language learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN 4 Jatigreges. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach using the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were fourth-grade students of SDN 4 Jatigreges, while the object of the study was the improvement of Indonesian language learning outcomes through the application of the discovery learning model combined with the discussion method.Data collection techniques included learning outcome tests, observations of teacher and student activities, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods by comparing students’ learning outcomes and classroom participation across each action cycle. The indicators of research success were determined by improvements in the class average scores and the percentage of students achieving mastery learning at the classical level.The results indicate that the application of the discovery learning model using the discussion method effectively improved students’ activeness, engagement, and Indonesian language learning outcomes. Students became more active in discovering concepts, participating in discussions, and expressing their ideas, resulting in more meaningful learning experiences. Therefore, the discovery learning model integrated with the discussion method can be considered an effective alternative strategy to enhance the quality of Indonesian language instruction in elementary schools.
