Efforts to Improve Creativity and Social Studies Learning Outcomes through the Self-Directed Learning Method Using PicsArt Media among Grade VIII-B Students of SMP PGRI 05 Tirtoyudo. Thesis. Madiun: Master’s Program in Social Studies Education, Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Prof. Dr. Parji, M.Pd., (II) Dr. Sudarmiani, M.Pd. Keywords: Social Studies, Creativity, Learning Outcomes, Self-Directed Learning Method Using PicsArt Media The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe the implementation of the Self-Directed Learning method using PicsArt media in improving students’ creativity and learning outcomes in Social Studies for Grade VIII-B students of SMP PGRI 05 Tirtoyudo; (2) to determine the effectiveness of the Self-Directed Learning method using PicsArt media in enhancing students’ creativity; (3) to determine its effectiveness in improving students’ Social Studies learning outcomes; and (4) to examine the improvement of both creativity and learning outcomes through the implementation of the Self-Directed Learning method using PicsArt media for Grade VIII-B students of SMP PGRI 05 Tirtoyudo. This research employed a qualitative approach and used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the research design. The research subjects included Grade VIII-B students of SMP PGRI 05 Tirtoyudo and a Social Studies teacher at the same school. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the implementation of the Self-Directed Learning method using PicsArt media was able to improve students’ creativity in Social Studies learning, as evidenced by students’ increased ability to express ideas, develop concepts, and present Social Studies material visually and innovatively through PicsArt media; (2) the implementation of the Self-Directed Learning method using PicsArt media also improved students’ Social Studies learning outcomes, as shown by an increase in the class average scores and the percentage of learning mastery in each cycle until the success indicators were achieved in Cycle III; (3) the integration of the Self-Directed Learning method and PicsArt media made Social Studies learning more active, creative, and meaningful, as students were directly involved in the learning process while the teacher acted as a facilitator; and (4) since the success indicators were achieved in Cycle III, this classroom action research was considered successful and therefore did not need to be continued to the next cycle.
