Abstract
Nurul Hamidah.2025.Implementation Of Storytelling Methods And Image Media In Indonesian Speaking Learning For Children With Special Needs In Grade 1 At Sd Negeri 2 Bulu Lor, Jambon District, Academic Year 2024/2025.Tesis .Madiun.Program Study Magister .Master of Education in Indonesian Language Education and Literature Education .University PGRI Madiun .Mentor (1) Dr.Panji Kuncoro Hadi,S.S,M.Pd (2) Dr.Agung Nasrullah Saputro,M.Pd Keywords: Storytelling Method, Image Media, Speaking Skills, Children with Special Needs. This research is motivated by the low speaking skills of first-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Bulu Lor, particularly among children with special needs (CSN) who tend to be passive, reluctant to communicate, and struggle to process information. This condition is exacerbated by monotonous conventional learning patterns and a lack of creative media tailored to children's characteristics. This study aims to describe the implementation of storytelling methods and image media, identify the obstacles encountered, and formulate appropriate solutions to improve Indonesian speaking skills for students with special needs. The research method employed is a qualitative approach with field research design. The primary instrument in this study is the researcher, with data collection techniques including direct classroom observation, in-depth interviews with classroom teachers and students, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of classroom teachers and 10 first-grade students at SDN 2 Bulu Lor, with a primary focus on students experiencing delays in the learning process. The results indicate that the application of storytelling methods combined with image media significantly enhances the active response and courage of students with special needs to express ideas or thoughts. Students become more conducive, calm, and enthusiastic in following the learning process compared to the lecture method. Nevertheless, several obstacles were found, such as the teacher's limited time in preparing specific media and difficulties in adapting the material to the diverse characteristics of special needs students. As a solution, teachers are required to implement differentiated learning, enhance competence through training/workshops, and devote more time to designing narrative stories that are adaptive to the students' environment. The implications of this research reinforce that the synergy of storytelling methods and visual media is an effective strategy in minimizing communication barriers for children with special needs at the elementary level.
