Keywords: poetry writing, mindfulness, natural environment media, Indonesian language learning, elementary school This study aims to describe and explain the implementation of poetry writing instruction using a mindfulness approach with the utilization of the surrounding natural environment and its impact on the poetry writing skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Kepohkidul II, Kedungadem District, Bojonegoro Regency. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of 28 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, poetry writing tests, documentation, and field notes. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the mindfulness approach improves students’ mental readiness, focus, and sensitivity in the process of writing poetry. The use of the surrounding natural environment provides concrete experiences that help students generate ideas, develop imagination, and employ more varied diction and figurative language. The integration of mindfulness and natural media creates meaningful, contextual, and student-centered poetry writing instruction. This approach leads to an improvement in the quality of students’ poetry in terms of theme, poetic language, imagination, and overall coherence. Therefore, poetry writing instruction using a mindfulness approach with natural environmental media can be considered an effective alternative strategy for enhancing elementary school students’ poetry writing skills.
