Abstract
This study aims to determine whether or not there is an improving of the ability to write descriptive texts Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model assisted by image media and improving the ability to write descriptive paragraphs in fifth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Rejoso, Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency. This study uses a quantitative method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The results of the study showed an increase in students' ability to write descriptive texts after being given CIRC. This is proven by the fact that in the control class before being given CIRC, the average value was 66.05 with classical completeness of 20% and after being given CIRC, the average value was 71.15, with classical completeness of 65%<75%, while in the experimental class before CIRC, the average value was 67.40 with classical completeness of 25%<75% and after CIRC, 83.25 with classical completeness of 100%>75%. The CIRC learning model allows collaboration between students through group discussions. With structured learning steps, the CIRC learning model has an influence of the ability to write descriptive texts in fifth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Rejoso, Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency. This research provides a deeper understanding of learning that can work on students' writing skills.
