Madiun: Magister Study Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate Program, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisor Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, S.S, M.Pd., Co- Advisor Dr. Kodrat Eko Putro Setiawan, M.Pd. Keywords: discovery learning, reading interest, Indonesian language learning Based on the researcher’s observations, fourth-grade students of SDN 3 Pelem Kertosono Nganjuk showed a low level of reading interest during the Indonesian language learning process. This was evident from students’ limited understanding of the material presented by the teacher. This condition was caused by monotonous learning methods in which students did not actively participate in the learning process, resulting in suboptimal learning outcomes. Based on the identification and limitation of the problems, the research question of this study is whether there is an effect of the discovery learning method on students’ reading interest in Indonesian language learning for fourth-grade students at SD N 3 Pelem Kertosono Nganjuk. This study aims to determine whether or not the discovery learning method affects students’ reading interest in Indonesian language learning for fourth-grade students at SD N 3 Pelem Kertosono Nganjuk. This research employed a quantitative experimental method (pre-experimental design) using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students of SD N 3 Pelem, with a sample of 17 students from the fourth grade. Content validity was tested through expert judgment, followed by construct validity testing using the product-moment correlation formula. Data reliability was tested using the Alpha formula. Data analysis techniques used the Liliefors test with the assistance of SPSS. The results of the study indicate that there is an effect of the discovery learning method on students’ reading interest in Indonesian language learning for fourth-grade students at SD N 3 Pelem Kertosono Nganjuk. Based on the calculation results, if the significance value is greater than 0.05, Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected, meaning there is no effect of the discovery learning method on students’ reading interest in Indonesian language learning. If the significance value is less than 0.05, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning there is an effect of the discovery learning method on students’ reading interest in Indonesian language learning. It can be seen that the sig. (2-tailed) value shows tcount = 0.000 < ttable = 0.4821 at a one-tailed significance level of 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the discovery learning method has a significant effect on students’ reading interest in Indonesian language learning.
